Open Call · 2026 · Kavala, Greece

Stories
in Matter.

The 2026 open call invites artists, designers, and interdisciplinary practitioners to explore the relationship between concept and material — translating ideas into applied forms within a city of layered histories.

/ 01 — Theme

We welcome practices that engage with—

Within the context of Kavala, where historical layers coexist with contemporary life, participants are encouraged to reflect on how environments shape creative processes.

A distinctive feature of the residency is the possibility of exploring applications on silk, translating artistic concepts into limited-edition textile pieces in connection with MANTILITY's practice.

  1. i.Material as a carrier of meaning.
  2. ii.The translation of ideas into applied forms.
  3. iii.The intersection of art, design, and everyday objects.
  4. iv.The influence of place, architecture, and memory on artistic production.
/ 02 — Format

Self-directed, lightly structured.

Rather than a retreat, the program functions as a living platform — time and space for focused work within a supportive environment.

Artists are invited to develop new or ongoing projects, engage with the local cultural context, and present their work through informal or public formats. Participants share their practice through a presentation, exhibition, or open format, depending on the nature of their work.

The residency encourages the development of work that engages with the context of place and material. Materials are not provided — artists work independently according to their practice.

The residency offers

  • Access to a distributed working environment between MANTILITY Studio and EPÀRCHÎA Design Boîte.
  • Accommodation options through selected local partners.
  • Access to exhibition and presentation platforms.
  • The possibility of a final presentation, exhibition, or open format.
  • Opportunities for public engagement and networking.
