/ 01 — The Residency

A contemporary platform for art, design, and material culture.

MANTILITY is a cultural platform based in Kavala, Greece, operating at the intersection of art, design, and material culture. Founded as the first silk scarf gallery, the platform collaborates with a network of over 60 artists and designers, presenting wearable artworks that bridge fine art and applied practice.

The residency unfolds across two distinct yet interconnected environments — embedded within the rhythms of the city and its public life. Rather than a retreat, the program functions as a living platform, where artistic production meets audience, space, and material.

/ 02 — The Spaces

Two locations. One distributed cultural ecosystem.

A distributed working environment between the historic center of the city and its contemporary urban core — moving the practice between layered histories and present-day life.

Located in the heart of the Old Town, directly opposite the iconic Kamares aqueduct. A hybrid cultural space that operates as exhibition venue, café-bar, concept store, and MANTILITY Silk Spot.

Positioned within the contemporary urban center, the Studio anchors the platform's design identity and material practice — a focused environment for production, experimentation, and the development of new work.

Together, the two spaces form a distributed environment where artistic practice is developed in dialogue with both the past and present of the city.

/ 03 — Location

Kavala — a city shaped by crossings.

Built amphitheatrically between mountain and sea, Kavala offers a rare sense of proximity: within minutes one can move from the forest paths above the city to the shoreline for a swim at sunset.

From the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Philippi and the Byzantine walls of the Old Town to the Kamares aqueduct, Ottoman monuments, neoclassical buildings, and contemporary urban life — Kavala unfolds through multiple historical and sensory layers.

A place where creative practice can unfold slowly, organically, and in close connection to the surrounding environment.
